COMING TO A PARKING LOT NEAR YOU: ADS ON THE STRIPES

PHILADELPHIA DAILY NEWS - "Parking for Desperate Housewives. They're
back Sunday 9 p.m.," reads the heavy tape fixed over the painted stripes
at nearly a dozen parking lots from Valencia to Oceanside. . . The
three-year-old company behind the parking stripes is Colorado-based
Parking Stripe Advertising. The medium and the environmentally friendly
materials have patents pending, company President Becky Osborne said. .

"It's brilliant!" said Debbie Wideroe, professor of communications at
Pepperdine University. "It's clever because you have to cut through the
clutter and a parking stripe is a clean slate." The genius, Wideroe
said, is that consumers have become immune to traditional advertising on
everything from bus billboards and benches to gas pumps and shopping
carts. "It's capturing your attention in an innovative way," she said.
"I think it's really aligned with the target audience."
