Has the History Channel become a tool of U.S. government propaganda?

NOTE: The following links are to a internet video presentation that rebuts the History Channels recent attack on the 911 truth movement/ conspiracy theories. It is very good.
I would like to point out the History Channel has produced some very good scientific programs. In order to disinformation to be believed, one method would be to insure lies are mixed rarely with a numerious truthful material or programs, or the viewers would stop trusting the Channel. One example of is the History Channel or the Discovery Channel's continued re-playing their program about the single bullet theory of the JFK assassination.
I am enclosing my reasearch on all the facts covered up by the CIA and the FBI regarding the JFK assassination as an example that a conspiracy of people killed Kennedy. It is interesting that the History Channels piece on 911, bad mouths those who present evidence countering the single bullet BS. See enclosed below;
Dick
WTC Basement Blast And Injured Burn Victim
June 24 2005 All these events occurred only seconds before and during the jetliner strike above. And through it all, he now asks a simple question everybody should be asking? How could a jetliner hit 90 floors above and burn a man's arms and face to a crisp in the basement below within seconds of impact?
His eyewitness account, backed up by at least 14 people at the scene with him, isn't speculation or conjecture. It isn't a story that takes a network out on a journalistic limb. It's a story that can be backed up, a story that can be verified with hospital records and testimony from many others.
It's a story about 14 people who felt and heard the same explosion and even saw Rodriguez, moments after the airplane hit, take David to safety, after he was burnt so bad from the basement explosion flesh was hanging from his face and both arms
At about "8:36 am", Rodriguez found himself checking into work in an office on sub-level 1 when the north tower was hit, seemingly out of harms way. However, the sound and concussion of a massive explosion in the sub-levels right below his feet changed that.
"Almost Seven seconds after the first massive explosion below in the basement still rattled the floor, I hear another explosion from way above," said Rodriguez. "Although I was unaware at the time, this was the airplane hitting the tower, it occurred moments after the first explosion."
But before Rodriguez had time to think, co-worker Felipe David stormed into the basement office with severe burns on his face and arms, screaming for help and yelling "explosion! explosion! explosion!"
David had been in front of a nearby freight elevator on sub-level 1 about 400 feet from the office when fire burst out of the elevator shaft, causing his injuries.
Rodriguez is the lead plaintiff in a federal RICO lawsuit filed against President Bush and others, alleging conspiracy to commit murder and other crimes in the deaths of more than 3,000 at the WTC.
Book review: 911 Revealed by Ian Henshall and Rowland Morgan
7 September 2007: ...exposing "vast gaps" in the official story and has established that:

* The 2006 Moussaoui trial and Inspectors' reports have confirmed
accusations from FBI officers in the field: in summer 2001 a network
of senior CIA, Justice Department and FBI officials systematically
obstructed the FBI field officers who suspected what was planned and
could have foiled the attacks. The FBI was legally the lead agency.
CIA officers at first falsely testified that they had informed the
FBI of the threat posed by presumed hijackers Al Hazmi and Al Mihdhar
and later told inspectors they "could not recall" why they did not.

* The "anti-hijack exercise" scheduled by the Pentagon at the time
the "real" attack took place seems more than an extraordinary
coincidence and a close reading of partially released air traffic
control transcripts indicates that the exercise may have involved at
least one of the planes used in the attacks.

* If video and flight recorder evidence released by the US government
is correct, Flight 77 could not have hit the Pentagon. The government
admitted at the Moussaoui trial that contrary to the official myth,
reflected in a series of feature films and tv documentaries, only two
mobile phone calls were made from Flight 93. One reported smoke and
an explosion shortly prior to the crash.

* Condoleeza Rice falsely stated on oath to the 911 Commission that
Bush's August 2001 CIA briefing, which warned him of the possibility
of an attack within America and was still secret at the time she
testified, did not mention any specific targets. In fact it mentioned
New York and predicted a possible hostage taking. Intriguingly, the
presumed hijackers apparently told passengers on two planes that this
was their plan.

* The "Independent 911 Commission" misrepresented evidence from
Pentagon officials, made false statements and failed to ask the right
questions. The Commissioners, far from being independent, were
trusted members of Washington's permanent government. Commissioner
Hamilton the leading Democrat was a political ally of Cheney from
when they worked together on the Iran-contra scandal in the late
1980's. Commissioner Cleland resigned in disgust.

* Early official reports into the collapse of the Twin Towers present
clear evidence - vaporised and sulpfurised steel, seismic events
preceding the plane impacts - suggesting that, as eyewitnesses
reported at the time, the neat symmetrical collapse of the Twin
Towers and Building 7 at near freefall speed was the result of
explosions in the buildings.

* Ex UK foreign minister Robin Cook wrote in The Guardian that the
original meaning of Al Qaeda was "the database", ie the list of
Afghan arab freedom fighters closely linked to if not controlled by
the CIA. Recent statements from officials, along with press reports
at the time, make it clear that Al Qaeda had links with the CIA or
the DIA well into the 1990's. Osama Bin laden's move from Sudan to
Afghanistan was managed by Ali Mohamed, Washington's spy at the heart
of Al Qaeda who trained Osama Bin laden's personal bodyguards.
Alleged 911 ringleader Khaled Sheikh Mohammed lived in Pakistan for
years while secretly indicted by the US Justice Department. He was
probably an asset of Pakistan's ISI. US government documents show the
ISI was working closely with George Tenet and the CIA on a secret
project in the months before 911. Its boss General Ahmad was in
secret Washington meetings with top officials and congressmen before
during and after the 911 attacks. Reports from India, supported by
the French media said that the terrorist money trail went back to
Ahmad, who took early retirement shortly after the news came out. The
claim by Washington journalist Gerald Posner that the ISI was
colluding with Al Qaeda against the wishes of the CIA seems an
unlikely explanation.

8. A close examination of the paper trail from 2000 and 2001 shows
beyond doubt that the decision (and probably detailed planning) to
invade Iraq was taken before, not after, the 911 attacks and CIA boss
Tenet was involved in the plans. The record shows an unusual series
of long meetings (denied by Tenet in evidence he gave on oath to the
911 Commission) with Bush in Texas in the weeks up to 911. One such
meeting, still unacknowledged in Tenet's recent memoirs, lasted for a
full day and included the chiefs of staff whose planes apparently
failed to intercept any of four hijacked planes. The official account
has left an unexplained and undocumented black hole of 20 minutes at
the Pentagon situation room at the height of the crisis.

9. Cheney who championed plans to invade Iraq before 911 was in
charge of the Pentagon on the morning of 9/11 and almost certainly in
charge of the hijack exercise.

10. BBC News was recently embarrassed by video surfacing on the
internet which showed an announcer stating the the "Saloman Brothers
Building" (WTC7) had collapsed while in the background it still stood
intact. WTC7 housed the largest Secret Servcice office in the US and
was the repository of high level fraud investigations. Many of these
records were lost in the collapse.

Facts covered up by the FBI and CIA after JFK was assassination
Here are some of the information noted in the book, that was cover-up by the FBI and CIA after JFK was assassinated.
June 26, 1962 (before the Cuban Missile crisis, two Dallas-based FBI agents interviewed Lee Harvey Oswald about his life in the Soviet Union. Oswald was uncooperative. He denied being approached by Soviet Intelligence while in Russia and he refused to take a polygraph. He defiantly walked out of the interview. (p.257)
On August 16, 1962, two FBI agents followed Lee Harvey Oswald to a parking lot in Dallas. They tried to interview him, but he was even more hostile and uncooperative than he was in June.
In the fall of 1962, about the same time that the Cuban Missile crisis was ending, George De Mohrenschildt a wealth Dallas businessman began to take an active interest in Lee and Marina Oswald. James Angleton maintains that De Mohrenschildt worked for the KGB and that he was the Oswalds' control officer (KGB case officer).
FBI files indicate that in 1941, De Mohrenschildt was arrested for making a sketch of a naval facility in Port Arkanas, Texas. By the end of World War II, the FBI had concluded he was an NKVD agent. (p. 258)
De Mohrenschildt developed a reputation as a top petroleum engineer. The FBI and CIA both believed his engineering success resulted from Communist connections. He worked for the CIA by voluntarily being debriefed by them after each of his trips to Soviet receptions and his work in Yugoslavia.
J. Walter Moore of the CIA's Domestic Contacts Division met with De Mohrenschildt. De Mohrenschildt had a relationship with the CIA dating back to the OSS. (Crossfire, the plot to kill Kennedy, by Jim Marrs, page 200)
In April 1961, De Mohrenschildt ended up in Guatemala, just a few miles from the training base the CIA had used to prepare for the Bay of Pigs invasion. By October 1962, De Mohrenschildt was back in Dallas and had befriended the Oswalds. In April 9163, De Mohrenschildt suddenly left Dallas for good. James Angleton believes that this was when the KGB handed Oswald off to Castro's intelligence service (the DGI).
An investigator from the House Select Committee on Assassination had attempted to contact De Mohrenschildt on March 29, 1977. Three hours later, De Mohrenschildt was dead from a shotgun blast to the head. His death was ruled a suicide. (Crossfire, p. 200)
Comment: It is assumed a KGB or DGI wet team (assassination team) may have killed De Mohrenschildt because he knew too much. The Soviets had a history of sacrificing their own KGB spies for the success of their spying operations.
A week later, Oswald took a bus to New Orleans. There is evidence that he orchestrated a street fight there purposely to establish an arrest record. Within a few months, Oswald established himself as a Castro sympathizer. He began telling associates he considered Castro's revolution more true to Marxism than the Soviet system.
At the same time, he also became deeply involved with the anti-Castro movement in New Orleans and with a number of Cuban emigres connected to the mafia boss of New Orleans, Carlos Marcello. Marcello had been included with Santos Trafficante and Sam Giancana in the CIA's contract to kill Castro.
Oswald was openly associated with rabid right-wingers involved in Operation Mongoose, including pilot David Ferrie, who had done contract work for the CIA, flying emigres to CIA training camps. Oswald spent time at a New Orleans bar which was a hangout of the most extreme anti-Castro Cuban emigres/refugees. His meetings with right-wing Cubans continued through the fall of 1963. (p.259)
James Angleton believes Oswald's effort to be seen with anti-Castro Cubans "indicated to me that he was trying to provoke them into a confrontation....Perhaps his goal was to report to DGI their activities. More likely is that he had been duped into the assignment by his Russian handlers. The idea would be to link him to Castro and not the Soviet Union. "
In 1963, the CIA was photographing everyone going into and out of the Soviet and Cuban embassies in Mexico City. The CIA later conceded that the man photographed while visiting the Soviet and Cuban embassies was not Oswald, but refused to say who it was. (p.260, The Secret History of the CIA )
In October 1963, a Mexican citizen, Silvia Duran, who work at the Cuban embassy stated an American who identified himself as Lee Oswald had contacted the Soviet Embassy in Mexico City. (Crossfire, p.193)
Not shown to the Warren Commission was a cable sent by the director of the CIA to the CIA station in Mexico City urging the secret arrest of Silvia Duran on the day after the assassination. The order was to keep Duran's arrest absolutely secret and that no information from her is published or leaked. Duran was making statements that a man calling himself Oswald, came to the Cuban Embassy.
Another declassified CIA cable tasked Duran be rearrested and to make sure the Mexican authorities took full responsibility for the re-arrest. This probably was due because after her first arrest, she began to speak about the person claiming to be Oswald. (Crossfire, p.194)
In January 22, 1964, the CIA leaked to the Warren Commission members that Oswald had contact with a KGB officer, Valery Kostikov, while in the Soviet embassy. The CIA said Kostikov's responsibilities included "assassinations and sabotage." This possible link between Oswald and a KGB assassination plot so frightened Commission members that they were content to take the CIA's word for Oswald's Mexico visits to embassies. (Crossfire, p.193)
The Top Secret codename for the Bay of Pigs operation, was Operation Zapata. Zapata Petroleum or Zapata Offshore was a Midland, TX oil company headed by George Bush Sr. There is a lot of evidence that Zapata Petrolleum was a CIA front company used to support the Bay of Pigs invasion. S Joseph McBride, wrote two articles in The Nation and disclosed that George Bush Sr. had been involved with the CIA before JFK has been assassinated. He examined an FBI memo dated Nov. 29, 1963 from Hoover to the State Department, subject: Assassination of President John F. Kennedy November 22,1963.

This memo stated that Oswald was in police custody and available for interrogation about his affiliation with agencies of the US government. It in the memo was noted/stated that FBI SA W. T. Forsyth and Captain William Edwards of the Defense Intelligence Agency briefed "Mr. George Bush of the CIA". McBride states, "A source with close connections to the intelligence community confirms that Bush started working for the Agency in 1960 or 1961, using his oil business as a cover for clandestine operations. (p. 331) [1]
Plausible Denial by Mark Lane.
----------
There was an utter absence of references to the FBN in any official investigation of the JFK assassination, despite the fact that FBN informer Jack Ruby killed Oswald and that the House Select Committee on Assassination (HSCA) concluded, Ruby had "direct contact" with associates of Marcello and trafficante. (The Strength of the Wolf, p. 308 )
The FBN office in Dallas knew Jack Ruby. In 1950, Jack Ruby had briefed the Kefauver Committee about organized crime in Chicago, although his attorney agreed to allow him to testify only "on the condition that the Kefauver Committee stay away from Dallas." On 25 November 1963, the Secret Service requested the FBN's file on Ruby. Ruby had been a source of information on numerous occasions for the FBN since 1940s, on unimportant suspects. A Secret Service agent took the file and never returned it to the FBN. (p. 309 - 310)
Clay Shaw, a CIA asset, reportedly joined the Permanent Industrial Exhibition, Permindex, in 1957. It was a construction company. After moving to Rome in 1961, Permindex became Centro Mondiale Commerciale (CMC) , and was reportedly involved as "a cover for the transfer of CIA...funds in Italy for illegal political-espionage activities."
NOTE: Clay Shaw was charged by Jim Garrison with conspiring to kill JFK.
In tracing the money used to finance the July 1961 assassination plot to kill French President Charles de Gaulle, French Intelligence discovered that about $200.000 had been sent to Permindex accounts in the Banque de la Credit Inernationale. CMC was accused of channeling funds to the drug smuggling Organization de l'Armee Secrete (OAS). (p. 314) The OAS was a cabal of French Army officers violently opposed to de Gaulle's decision to grant Algeria independence. The CIA and Israeli intelligence service secretly supported the OAS. (p. 269-270) Pres. de Gaulle's deputy of secret foreign affairs (SAC) used Nazi-collaborator Corsican gangsters, to defeat the OAS. (p. 198)
Jean Souetre was expelled from Fort Worth or Dallas 18 hours after the JFK assassination to Canada or Mexico. Souetre had been in Dallas on the afternoon of the assassination. He was a French Army deserter and OAS representative in southern Algeria. In an FBI document explains that French security officials wanted to know why Souetre was expelled. The FBI said told the French that they had no information on Souetre. Also, the Warren Commision was never notified about Souetre. (p. 315)
Jim Garrison's investigation of the JFK assassination threatened to uncover the CIA's MK ULTRA program. After Garrison arrested Clay Shaw in March 1967, the CIA began to discredit Garrison by linking him to Carlos Marcello in an 8 September 1967 Life Magazine article. Texas Governor John Connally also helped by preventing the extradition from New Orleans of Sergio Arcacha Smith (an anti-Castro Cuban) as a witness in the Clay Shaw trial. (p. The Strength of the Wolf, 393)
General Lemnitzer, Chairman of the Joint Chief of Staff, believed that the Bay of Pigs invasion would fail (based on his military assessment of the invasion force and the Cuban defense forces), but withheld his judgment from President Kennedy. (Source: Body of Secrets, p. 82)
An April 29, 2000 Washington Post article, Soviets Knew Date of Cuba Attack, reported that the CIA had information indicating that the Soviet Union knew the invasion was going to take place and did not inform Kennedy. Radio Moscow actually broadcast an English-language newscast on April 13, 1961 predicting the invasion "in a plot hatched by the CIA" using paid "criminals" within a week. The invasion took place four days later. According to British minister David Ormsby-Gore, British intelligence estimates, which had been made available to the CIA, showed that the Cuban people were predominantly behind Castro and that there was no likelihood of mass defections or insurrections following the invasion.
The CIA knew in advance that the date of the invasion had been leaked to the Russians, who had in turn relayed that information to Castro. In spite of this information, the head of the CIA, Allen Dulles, ordered the Bay of Pigs Operation forward. The CIA's intention was for Kennedy to send in jets to bomb Cuba and for the Marines to join the (US trained and equipped Cuban "freedom fighters") brigade already on land. If this had happened the survivors would have been placed in a Cuban prison, which would have created an uproar by the American public and forced Kennedy to order a full-scale invasion. High-ranking officials within the CIA spread the myth that Kennedy was responsible for the failure of the invasion. Many Cubans continue to hold this belief when, in truth, the betrayal lies with Allen Dulles and the CIA.

US Secret Service agent Abraham Bolden was arrested on the very day he went to Washington to tell the Warren Commission about those attempts. Caught in a maze of National Security concerns that only became clear after four million pages of JFK files were released in the 1990s.
Yet in November 1963, John and Robert Kennedy were able to keep two assassination plots against JFK that month out of the media at the time. The first was in Chicago, on November 2, 1963--when JFK had to cancel his trip and motorcade at the last minute--and the second was during JFK's long motorcade through Tampa, Florida on November 18, 1963, just four days before Dallas. Both the Chicago and Tampa plots had many similarities to Dallas, yet they were withheld from the news media and most investigators.
Bolden was involved in investigating the Chicago plot and was informed about the similar Tampa attempt. Bolden's own testimony to a Congressional Committee about the Chicago plot was kept secret for over fifteen years, but when finally released in the 1990s, it supported other information that had emerged about the plot over the years.
While Warren Commission staff had heard vague rumors of the Chicago plot, they had been told nothing about the Tampa attempt (which would continued to be withheld from the later Congressional investigations into JFK's assassination).
Bolden himself had previously arrested both of his accusers, one of whom later admitted committing perjury against Bolden. But the Chicago judge told the jury he felt Bolden was guilty, and Bolden was convicted and sentenced to six years in jail. Former Senate investigator and top Freedom of Information attorney Bud Fensterwald looked into Bolden's case and concluded that Bolden had been framed. After reviewing Fensterwald's files, we tracked down additional information about the Chicago mobster that Bolden's accusers worked for, whose gangster associate had infiltrated AMWORLD. The Mafia knew the Secret Service wouldn't defend Bolden because of his accusations of laxity, and that others in the government couldn't come to Bolden's aide because of National Security concerns.
AMWORLD (aka C-day) "Plan for a Coup and U.S. intervention in Cuba"
The CIA's earlier efforts with the Mafia to assassinate Castro—which began in 1959 under Vice President Richard Nixon—had complicated the Kennedys' intense prosecution of the Mafia. Without telling the Kennedys, the CIA was continuing to work with the Mafia on plots against Castro in the fall of 1963, which helped to allow associates of Marcello, Trafficante, and Rosselli to infiltrate the plans for C-Day.
In 1963, Carlos Marcello was America's most ruthless and secretive Mafia boss, completely free of FBI wiretaps. From his New Orleans headquarters, he ruled a territory that included Louisiana, Mississippi, and parts of Texas and Alabama. Marcello's Mafia family was the oldest in North America, able to stage major "hits" without needing the approval of the national Mafia organization, and his associates had a long history of targeting government officials who got in their way. The Kennedys had pursued Marcello since 1959, even before JFK was elected president. Recently declassified FBI documents confirm that just a few years before his own death, Carlos Marcello confessed on three occasions to informants that he had had JFK killed.
Tampa godfather Santo Trafficante was Marcello's closest Mafia ally. Trafficante's territory included much of Florida, as well as parts of Alabama, and his organization provided a major conduit for the French Connection heroin trade, whose primary routes included New York City, Texas, New Orleans, Georgia's Fort Benning, Montreal, Chicago, and Mexico City.
Carlos Marcello was born to Sicilian parents in Tunis, Marcello was brought to the United States in 1911 and his family settled in a decaying Plantation house near Louisiana. In 1938, on his release from prison Marcello became associated with Frank Costello, the leader of the Genovese crime family in New York. By the end of 1947, Marcello had taken control of Louisiana's gambling network. He had also joined forces with Meyer Lansky in order to take over and split the profits from some of the most important gambling casinos in the New Orleans area. According to former members of the Chicago Outfit, Marcello was also assigned a cut of the money skimmed from Las Vegas Strip. casinos in exchange for providing muscle in Florida Real estate. deals. By this time Marcello had been crowned as the Godfather of the Mafia in New Orleans and held this position for the next 30 years.
Marcello employed Oswald's uncle Charles Murret as a bookmaker in the New Orleans gambling world
The Marcello family and descendants still own or control a significant amount of real estate in Southeast Louisiana
C-Day plan and how it developed, beginning with the Cuban Missile Crisis. Though it is widely believed that JFK agreed not to invade Cuba in order to end the Cuban Missile Crisis in the fall of 1962, Secretary of State Rusk told us that the "no-invasion" pledge was conditional upon Castro's agreement to on-site UN inspections for nuclear weapons of mass destruction (a term that JFK first used). Historians at the National Security Archive confirmed that because Castro refused such inspections, the pledge against invasion never went into effect. Consequently, in the spring of 1963, John and Robert Kennedy started laying the groundwork for a coup against Fidel Castro that would eventually be set for December 1, 1963. he himself was getting ready to stage a coup against Castro the following week.
Robert Kennedy put the invasion under the control of the Defense Department.
The "Plan for a Coup in Cuba," as written by JFK's Secretary of the Army Cyrus Vance with the help of the State Department and the CIA, called for the coup leader to "neutralize" Cuban leader "Fidel Castro and . . . [his brother] Raul" in a "palace coup." Then, the coup leader would "declare martial law" and "proclaim a Provisional Government" that would include previously "selected Cuban exile leaders" who would enter from their bases in Latin America. Then, at the invitation of the new government, after "publicly announcing US intent to support the Provisional Government, the US would initiate overt logistical and air support to the insurgents" including destroying "those air defenses which might endanger the air movement of US troops into the area." After the "initial air attacks" would come "the rapid, incremental introduction of balanced forces, to include full-scale invasion" if necessary. The first US military forces into Cuba would be a multiracial group of "US military-trained free Cubans," all veterans of the Bay of Pigs. Upon presidential authorization, the US would "recognize [the] Provisional Government . . . warn [the] Soviets not to intervene" and "assist the Provisional Government in preparing for . . . free elections."
Long-secret government files confirm that ten men who worked for the mob bosses had learned about CDay. Five of those ten actually worked on C-Day, giving the Mafia chieftains a pipeline directly into C-Day and the plans for keeping it secret.
Abraham Bolden, the first black Presidential Secret Service agent, was framed by the Mafia and sent to prison when he tried to tell the Warren Commission about the Chicago and Tampa assassination attempts against JFK. His career and life ruined, Bolden has spent the last forty years seeking a pardon.[40] Now, new information from the CIA and other sources shows that the man behind Bolden's framing was an associate of Rosselli and Trafficante, someone linked to JFK's assassination who had penetrated C-Day while working for the Mafia.
Pepe San Roman, the Cuban exile who had led the Kennedys' ill-fated Bay of Pigs invasion., in 1963, Pepe's brother had been "sent by Robert Kennedy to Central American countries to seek aid for a second invasion" of Cuba.
Secretary of State, Dean Rusk disclosed the existence of a planned "second invasion" of Cuba in 1963. Rusk described the "second invasion" as a "coup" and said that it wasn't going to be just some Cuban exiles in boats like the Bay of Pigs, but would involve the US military. Rusk indicated that the "second invasion" plans were active at the time JFK died in November 1963 and that the plan was personally controlled by Bobby Kennedy, but that he, Rusk, hadn't learned about it until just after JFK's death.
Revealing such a plan after JFK's death, just a year after the tense nuclear standoff of the Cuban Missile Crisis, could have easily sparked a serious and dangerous confrontation with the Soviets. That fear could explain why so much about JFK's assassination had been covered up for so long.
The National Security Archive in Washington, a partially censored memo from one of Bobby Kennedy's secretive subcommittees of the National Security Council discussed "Contingency Plans" in case Fidel Castro retaliated against the US by attempting the "assassination of American officials." The memo was written just ten days before JFK's assassination, and talked about "the likelihood of a step-up in Castro-incited subversion and violence" in response to some US action.
Dave Powers and his fellow JFK aide, Kenneth O'Donnell, clearly saw the shots, since they were in the limo right behind JFK. Powers said they felt they were "riding into an ambush"—explaining for the first time why the driver of JFK's limo slowed after the first shot. Powers also described how he was pressured to change his story for the Warren Commission.
Cuban exile, Bay of Pigs, and C-Day exile leader, veteran Enrique "Harry" Ruiz-Williams, who had been interviewed by former FBI agent William Turner in 1973. Williams had told Turner that he had been working on the plan with high CIA officials in Washington—something rare for Cuban exiles—on November 22, 1963.
Williams detailed overview of the Kennedys' secret plan to overthrow Castro on December 1, 1963 and how it was connected to JFK's assassination. We finally understood how associates of Marcello, Trafficante, and Rosselli had learned of the plan and used parts of it against JFK—forcing Bobby Kennedy and key government officials into a much larger cover-up, to protect national security.
Some of the very records that prove C-Day's existence also show connections between C-Day and JFK's assassination, and how C-Day was penetrated by the associates of Mafia bosses Carlos Marcello, Santo Trafficante, and Johnny Rosselli.
Were they confident that any such exposure could push America to the brink of war with Cuba and the Soviet Union, meaning that they could assassinate JFK with relative impunity.
NOTE: The CIA's AMTRUNK operation, looked for disaffected Cuban military officers. Some US officials also knew about a CIA asset named Rolando Cubela, a disgruntled mid-level Cuban official who the CIA code-named AMLASH.
Pierre Salinger—a member of the Kennedys' first organized crime investigation team—that just weeks before Jack Ruby shot Oswald, Ruby received a large payoff in Chicago from someone working for a close ally of Marcello and Trafficante.
Ruby also made surprising comments that wound in up the Warren Commission's files but not in their report. Just weeks after Ruby's arrest for shooting Oswald in 1963, an FBI document quotes Ruby as talking about "an invasion of Cuba" that "was being sponsored by the United States Government."
With C-Day set to begin the following week, JFK planned to give a speech in Miami just hours after his trip to Tampa, a speech that included a message written to the C-Day coup leader in Cuba that promised him JFK's personal support. Canceling the Tampa motorcade simply wasn't an option for JFK or Bobby, even though the motorcade would reportedly be the longest of JFK's presidency, slowly making its way past teeming crowds and many unsecured buildings. Our interviews with officials from Florida law enforcement and the Secret Service, supported by newspaper files and declassified CIA and FBI documents, reveal that the Tampa attempt to kill JFK shares a dozen striking parallels to what happened in Dallas four days later. They include a young male suspect who was a former defector with links to both the Fair Play for Cuba Committee and Russia, just like Lee Harvey Oswald. As in Dallas, JFK's Tampa motorcade also included a hard left turn in front of a tall red-brick building with many unguarded windows—a key site that officials feared might be used by snipers to target JFK.
There was a planned attempt to kill JFK during his Tampa motorcade on November 18, 1963. It was mentioned in only two small Florida newspaper articles, each in just one edition of the newspaper and then only after JFK was killed in Dallas. Nothing appeared at the time of the threat, even though authorities had uncovered the plot prior to JFK's motorcade. It was clear that someone had suppressed the story.
John and Robert Kennedy kept the Tampa assassination attempt secret at the time, and Robert Kennedy kept it secret until his death in 1968. The Secret Service, FBI, CIA, and other agencies have similarly maintained silence about it, as well as keeping secret other information about the assassination that might have exposed the Kennedys' C-Day coup plan. In November 1994, the authors first informed the JFK Assassination Review Board about the Tampa assassination attempt. The Review Board had been created by Congress in 1992 and appointed by President Clinton soon after, to release all the JFK records. But just weeks after we told the Board about the Tampa attempt, the Secret Service destroyed their records for that time period. That does not implicate the Secret Service or the FBI or the CIA (as an organization) in JFK's assassination. As the book shows, officials were forced into such cover-ups because the Mafia bosses had tied the potentially destabilizing C-Day plan to their attempts to assassinate JFK in Chicago, Tampa, and finally Dallas.
