Nearly 4 Dozen Subpoenas Issued...Hastert: I Won't Quit...

The House Ethics Committee launched an investigation into the scandal surrounding former Congressman Mark Foley (R-FL) yesterday, issuing almost 4 dozen subpoenas for documents and testimony from House members. Chairman Doc Hastings (R-WA) said, "Our investigation will go wherever the evidence leads us."
Meanwhile, Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert (R-IL) rebuffed calls for his resignation, saying, "I haven't done anything wrong, obviously." Hastert also denied a former aide's allegations that he was informed of Foley's inappropriate behavior as early as 2003. He stated his intention to run for Speaker again after the midterm elections.
