OUR MONTHLY REPORT ON THE MAJOR CANDIDATES
The major candidates can be lumped into two main categories: the
reformed sinners (Edwards & Gore) and the fake saints (Clinton & Obama).
Richardson is trying to climb into the former category but without much
luck. On the whole it's best to go with a reformed sinner.
The archaic media continues to treat the campaign as a fairy tale. In
May, 79% of the campaign headlines we scanned mentioned either Clinton
or Obama in a positive or neutral light, while Edwards got only 10% of
the heads. The overall headline bias since last December has been
Obama-Clinton 71%, Edwards 14% and all the others 15%.
EDWARDS
Our assertion that Edwards is the candidate most feared by the
establishment got major confirmation from TV financial analyst Jim
Cramer who told Chris Matthews that on Wall Street, Edwards is "public
enemy number one."
Edwards is best on Iraq, economics, war on terror, labor and is the only
candidate who really talks like a Democrat. He is way off on mandatory
national service and needs to control his personal spending habits.
Health care plan falls far short but is better than the rest. Sure he's
a trial lawyer, but if elected there's a good chance he'll be our trial
lawyer.
GORE
Gore has alot of baggage and can be a real pain in the neck. But the guy
is speaking the truth these days and you got to give him credit for
that.
RICHARDSON
Richardson fell this month because of a lousy on the one one this on the
other hand that appearance on Meet the Press. He has plenty of
experience, especially in foreign affairs. Not much on the table yet
and, if you're a woman, you don't want to stand too close to him.
Looking more like the sort of guy you'd want a president to have around
rather than the sort you'd want a president to be.
OBAMA
Having done a pretty good job of copyrighting hope, Obama is moving on
to faith. Anyone who goes to a politician for either of those two things
is a damn fool, but it sure helps in the polls. His campaign is highly
cynical and manipulative, - evangelism for liberals - testing how far
platitudes can take you without committing yourself to anything. The
Washington establishment has nothing to fear from this guy; they can
keep on bringing the country down if he wins.
CLINTON
The media continues to ignore HRC's sordid past and the number of her
friends and associates who have done time. If Hillary runs against
Giuliani it will be the most corrupt presidential campaign ever. She
dissembles for the hell of it, has no consistent political positions and
the GOP has control of the Justice Department files on her and can
hardly wait for her to run.
