LABOR SONG

Here is a song that I thought would be appropriate for the celebration of Labor Day. It should serve as a reminder of what those who came before us had to fight for so that we could enjoy what we now take for granted......The 8 hour work day!!!!!!!!!!!!...........PEACE...........Scott

We want to see the sunshine
and we want to smell the flowers

We are sure god has willed it
and we mean to have eight hours

We're summoning our forces
from the shipyards, shop and mill

Eight hours for work, eight hours for rest
and eight hours for what we will

- 'Eight Hours' published July,21,1878, becoming the most popular
labor song until 'Solidarity Forever'
