In a move to boost congressional support for an emergency loan to keep the auto industry afloat, the UAW has offered new cost-saving steps. UAW President Ron Gettelfinger says failure in Detroit to keep the Big Three automakers operating would impact the entire country: “Main Street, side street and rural America are all impacted by what the Congress does.”
