GREAT THOUGHTS OF RUDY GIULIANI

GIULIANI - Okay. First of all, I don't believe the attorney general
designate in any way was unclear on torture. I think Democrats said
that; I don't think he was."

QUESTION - He said he didn't know if waterboarding is torture."

GIULIANI - Well, I'm not sure it is either. I'm not sure it is either.
It depends on how it's done. It depends on the circumstances. It depends
on who does it.

GREAT THOUGHTS OF JOE BIDEN

WASHINGTON POST - In an interview with The Washington Post's editorial
board, Sen. Joe Biden (D-Del.) asserted that he is more prepared to be
president than any other candidate, disputed the notion that governors
are better suited for the White House than senators and warned that
Pakistan is a potentially bigger threat than Iran. . .

After a lengthy critique of Bush administration education policies,
Biden attempted to explain why some schools perform better than others
-- in Iowa, for instance, compared with the District. "There's less than
1 percent of the population of Iowa that is African American. There is
probably less than 4 or 5 percent that are minorities. What is in
Washington? So look, it goes back to what you start off with, what
you're dealing with."

GREAT THOUGHTS OF MITT ROMNEY

BOSTON HERALD - GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney said yesterday
he wants to link the amount of financial aid college students get to the
kind of jobs they pursue after graduation. Romney offered no specifics
on what careers would warrant more money for a student during their
undergraduate years, such as whether a future lawyer, doctor, teacher or
social worker would receive more aid than a future economist or
engineer. "I like the idea of linking the level of support that we're
able to provide to young people going to college to the contributions
they're going to make to our society," Romney said.

GREAT THOUGHTS OF BILL O'REILLY

MEDIA MATTERS - During the October 24 edition of his Fox News show, Bill
O'Reilly asserted: "It seems to me, and the studies indicate, that most
teachers -- high school and college in the United States -- are
left-wingers. That they bring in a anti-American viewpoint to the sense
that they don't preach about the nobility of America, they teach about
the deficits

E-VOTE CORP ZAPPED BY STATE OFFICIAL

BRAD BLOG - Once again, the country's largest voting machine vendor,
Election Systems & Software, Inc., has failed in yet another state
certification process. . . In a letter faxed to the company, Colorado's
Secretary of State Mike Coffman informed the Omaha, Nebraska, company
that the state has suspended the certification process of ES&S's voting
systems due to a failure to provide required documentation and other
materials needed to complete testing. That, after several previous
deadline extensions had been granted.

"[T]here is a history of coordination issues with your company," Coffman
wrote to ES&S's Vice President of Certification, Steve Pearson. . .
"Those issues include the following: changing project managers multiple
times since April, providing incorrect programming of required databases
for testing, providing incorrect ballots for testing, failing to provide
required documentation of Federal testing, and test failures requiring
extensive machine servicing."
