Bush's speech to veterans in Reno, NV:
Propaganda blitz in preparation for Petraeus report

As Iraq war veterans and their family members prepare for the September 15 March on Washington, George W. Bush is attempting to speak at every meeting of veteran’s organizations in preparation for the Petraeus report. Since the war's beginning, the administration has used soldiers, marines and sailors as a political backdrop for their propaganda. Let’s never forget that Bush, Rove and his handlers arranged for the president to fly on a Navy S-3B Viking fighter jet to the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier as it was pulling to shore in southern California to pose under the banner “Mission Accomplished” way back on May 1, 2003.

Bush’s speech today before the American Legion in Reno, Nevada was clearly part of the Bush/Petraeus propaganda blitz in preparation for the report that will be delivered by Gen. David Petraeus in mid-September. Bush called on the country to recognize the "military progress" achieved by the "surge," claiming that "Iraq, as a whole, is moving forward." Bush again vowed to "stay in the fight until the fight is won."

Every Bush speech is just the recycling of previously-discredited lies. Once one lie is fully exposed and cast off, Bush plucks out of his hat an older rationale to justify a criminal war of aggression that has taken the lives of hundreds of thousands of Iraqis and killed or wounded tens of thousands of U.S. servicemembers. In today’s speech, Bush reverted to the time-tested tactic of fear and intimidation. Bush stated, "Failure in Iraq would cause the enemy not to retreat but to follow us to America."

Bush’s propaganda flies in the face of the facts: It is the unprovoked invasion and war in Iraq that has created additional anger, resentment and hatred throughout Iraq and the entire Middle East region.

Illustrating just how endless a war he has in mind, in a speech in front of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Bush expressed regret that the U.S. had ever pulled out of Vietnam. But we can end the war in Iraq. We must mobilized in every city and community to hit the streets. All out for September 15th in Washington, DC!
