What would you do with $11 billion?

Two weeks ago, more than 8,000 of you signed our petition telling some of the world's biggest banks to stop funding the TXU coal power plant project. Last week, 6,440 of you told Citi CEO Chuck Prince to get out of TXU and dirty energy. Yesterday, hundreds of supporters in six different cities protested Merrill Lynch's involvement at branches around the country.

Pictures streamed in from Boston, New York, Washington, D.C. and Houston. Video from an action right here in San Francisco showed the power of people like you and what it means to stand up for real change in this country.

$11 billion is how much money TXU needs to build these coal power plants. Now we want to know, what would you do with $11 billion? . Would you buy a solar-powered business? Would you buy a small island? Maybe you'd give it all to charity. Whatever it is, we want to know. Plot your location on our map and enter your answer in the "shoutout" field:

$11 billion is a lot of money. Just think of the progress we could make if we spent $11 billion on developing alternative, sustainable energy rather than funneling it into the same dirty energy of the past. $11 billion was what the U.S. government gave out in tax incentives in the 2005 Energy Bill. $11 billion is what India spends on studies abroad every year. 11 billion is also the number of pages on the known internet. But, what would you do with $11 billion? Tell us by plotting your location on our map and entering your answer in the "shoutout" field:

Yesterday was a great day for our campaign. Supporters came out all over the country to send a message to the banking sector: get real about climate change and global warming.

Thank you to everyone who came out yesterday. Get the latest campaign updates at our blog, The Understory:
