Dear Friends of PDA in Washington,
As you are no doubt aware, Impeachment is underway in Washington’s State Legislature. In this post you will find actions you can take to bring this issue to the forefront of the every legislators mind and to your associates. These actions are truly one of the most important steps you can take to bring our nation back to it’s heritage of constitutional government under the rule of law.
The Washington Senate memorial, SJM 8016, calling for investigations into possible illegal behavior of Bush/Cheney is out of committee, and the next 8 days are crucial in convincing the Democratic leadership to send this Bill to the Senate floor for a vote. I include their contact info below so you can easily take action.
Representatives Hasegawa and Chase spoke at the hearing on behalf of the Bill SJM 8016. There is good support in the House and reason to believe the Bill will pass the Senate if it gets a vote. The fate of this Bill depends on Senator Lisa Brown, the Majority Leader. Sen. Brown has the power to send this Bill to the floor for a vote. Passage would send it on to House. March 14th is the deadline for the Senate to vote. This week will determine the fate of the bill. We need to turn up the heat now.
Here is the contact info for the Democratic Leadership that will make or break this legislation.

2) Contact the Dem leadership and your Senator - go to http://www1.leg.wa.gov/Senate to find your Senator. Below is a sample letter you could send.
“Dear Senator ,
The people of Washington State have a golden opportunity to make their voices heard in Washington DC. SJM 8016 petitions Congress to open serious investigations leading to possible impeachment for grave allegations of abuse of power and wrongdoing by President Bush and Vice President Cheney.
You can make a difference in our country and in our State. I urge you to move this bill forward by allowing Bill SJM 8016 to go to the Senate floor for a vote. Thank you for supporting this legislation.
Sincerely,”
3) Contact everyone in your address book and urge them to contact the above Legislators and send them a copy of this email.
Finally, thanks to all of you who were able to come to Olympia on March 1st for the rally and hearing. And, to all who were able to contact the legislators on the hearing committee.
