Save Our Last Wild Forests!

Dear T. Scott,

Save Our Last Wild Forests!

Endangerd Species

The Bush administration repealed the Roadless Rule, but now conservation-minded Americans like you are joining together to file an official petition with the Bush administration demanding reinstatement of the original Roadless Rule. Take Action!
May 13, the Bush administration repealed the widely supported Roadless Area Conservation Rule, opening nearly sixty million acres of America's last wild national forests to logging, road construction, mining, oil exploration, and other forms of development. These roadless forests are critical to the ongoing recovery and survival of our nation's most treasured animals.

Next week, on the fifth anniversary of President Clinton's signing of the Roadless Rule, the conservation community wants to present hundreds of thousands of signatures demanding the reinstatment of the Roadless Rules to President Bush and the Department of Agriculture. Please sign this official citizen's petition today!

The Roadless Rule was one of the greatest forest conservation measures in U.S. history. The protection it provided for unspoiled forests was a critical step in keeping grizzlies, wolves, and other species from returning to the brink of extinction. Protecting our nation's wild forests is even more important for imperiled species now that some members of Congress are trying to eliminate the habitat protections currently provided by the Endangered Species Act.

After five years of fighting to keep the roadless rule instated it is easy to think of the forests affected as far off places. But I recently learned that one of the forests that may be impacted is the Tahoe National Forest - that's my back yard - were my friends and I camp, hike, snowshoe every chance we get. Overturning the Roadless Rule isn't some abstract piece of legislation coming out of Washington - it is a decision that will determine the long-term survival of the places and the animals we love.

Please act now, because the forest you save could be the one special to you: http://go.care2.com/e/iMv/fY/JXLF
