ImpeachPAC Raises Over $30,000 in First Week

ImpeachPAC, a new political action committee created to support congressional candidates who favor impeaching Bush and Cheney, raised $30,569 from 696 donors in its very first weekend, an average contribution of nearly $44 per donor. Our goal is $100,000. Help us get there! Thank you if you've already contributed! Please send this to your friends!

According to a new NBC/WSJ poll, 57% believe Bush deliberately misled people to make the case for war, compared with 35% who say he gave the most accurate information he had. In other words, a solid majority of Americans believe Bush lied.

Here are the latest headlines that add to the case for impeachment:

Italy's official TV documents Bush's illegal use of chemical weapons - white phosphorus, which melts skin while leaving clothes intact - in Fallujah in 2004

Former Senate Intelligence Committee chairman Bob Graham says Bush lied about Iraq intelligence - and says Cheney co-conspired with Libby to out Valerie Plame

Declassified report proves Bush lied when he claimed "Iraq has trained Al Qaeda members in bomb making and poisons and deadly gases"

In 2004, the CIA Inspector General said some White House-approved interrogation tactics violated the international Convention Against Torture

Chris Nelson of the influential Nelson Report says the torture scandal presents "a pretty solid case for an impeachment proceeding."

Ahmed Chalabi is in Washington meeting top Bush officials, despite authoring many of the key pre-war lies, and an ongoing FBI investigation into spying for Iran

Even Bill Kristol, a key proponent of the Iraq War, thinks manipulating pre-war intelligence would be an "indictable offense"

New York Times urges Bush to "virtually" fire Cheney to prevent three more "dreadful" years
___________

WRITE TO CHALABI

From Thursday's Los Angeles Times: "As he entered the American Enterprise Institute on Wednesday afternoon to deliver his speech, a small, vocal group of street protesters carried a large banner reading, 'Chalabi Lied, Innocents Died.' 'This gentleman played a key role in some of the fraudulent claims that led us to war, and a lot of people are angry that he's being treated like a visiting dignitary,' said [Democrats.com Washington Director] David Swanson, who helped organize the protest. Chalabi has cast himself as a possible candidate for prime minister of Iraq after the country conducts national elections next month. But political commentators inside Iraq say Chalabi's chances of winning the office are slim."
