Deja Veto

Nov. 1, 2007

Global worker
Join the worldwide call to action demanding decent work for all. Around the globe, 12.3 million people work in slavery, 200 million children under the age of 15 work instead of going to school, half the world’s workers earn less than $2 a day
.

Who’s next on Bush’s veto target list? Workers whose jobs are shipped overseas because of Bush administration trade policies and the nation’s miners are in the same line of fire as the 10 million kids who need health insurance under the vetoed State Children’s Health Insurance Program (SCHIP). Yesterday, the U.S. House passed a bill to expand and improve the federal retraining and unemployment insurance programs designed to help workers who lose their jobs because of unfair trade. Bush says he will veto it. There also is a veto threat against new and tougher mine safety laws approved by a House committee yesterday.

Quick Poll: What do you think of the early presidential primaries for this election?
