A NewsDissector invitation to book previews

MediaChannel.org has launched a "Tell The Truth About The War" campaign as an effort for better and deeper reporting that shows us the real war in Iraq, and promotes more empathetic understanding of another long-suffering people under occupation. Our problem with the coverage is not confined to the pre-war WMD issue but with the ongoing superficial 'car bomb of the day' approach.

In that connection, MediaChannel editor, Danny Schechter, "The News Dissector" coming out with two new books, "The Death of Media" and "When News Lies: Media complicity and the Iraq War" which will include the DVD of his documentary film, WMD (Weapons of Mass Deception) and its script.

Danny's new book takes the debate on the war coverage into a new realm--from questioning news accuracy and flawed coverage to its possible criminal impact. "No one except the Bush Administration doubts that war crimes have been committed--inadvertently or not--in Iraq," says Schechter. "Alongside those crimes--in prisons and on the battlefield---we need to examine media complicity. It is my view that media crimes of collusion and cover-up need more investigation and debate."

To get a sense of Danny's argument, and as a token gift for the season, I welcome invite you to download and read a handsomely designed 24-page free PDF preview of the new books produced by Canada's ColdType.Net. Have a look.
