Join RAN's International Day of Action in support of Indigenous Rights!

Rainforest Action Network

Less than one week from now, hundreds of activists across the United States and Canada will deliver one message to OfficeMax and Grand & Toy: Support the moratorium in Grassy Narrows.

You can help by planning or joining an action in your community.

OfficeMax and Grand & Toy sell paper products sourced from the Grassy Narrows First Nation's traditional territory. The people of Grassy Narrows have been blockading a logging road on their territory for more than five years and have called for a moratorium on industrial activity on their territory. It is time for corporations that profit off of trees logged in Grassy Narrows to do the right thing and publicly support the moratorium.

There is still time to get involved in the day of action on January 30!

Visit our Day of Action web page to learn more!

In response to the Grassy Narrows call for a logging moratorium, OfficeMax promised last year to help resolve the conflict by promoting "win-win" solutions to the community's concerns with the provincial government.

But as formal negotiations between the province of Ontario and Grassy Narrows continue, so do the clear-cuts. The only clear "winners" have been OfficeMax and its paper suppliers. Now is the time to put grassroots pressure on OfficeMax and its Canadian subsidiary, Grand & Toy, by demanding that they publicly support a moratorium in Grassy Narrows.

This is the perfect moment to ramp up the pressure. Together, on January 30, we're going to hold OfficeMax to its word.

You can help by planning an action at a store (or stores) in your region. Check the Day of Action web page for more information, or contact me, Annie, at asartor@ran.org or (415) 572-1027 if you want help planning your event on January 30.

Sincerely,

Annie Sartor
RAN Old Growth Team

PS -- Your action can be as big or as small as you'd like: grab a dozen friends and have a fun rally or just deliver a letter to the manager of a store near you. Every action adds to our collective impact!
