East Coast Strike Report, Day 51:

On Christmas Eve, my mom asked me to explain the writers' strike to her. Which is understandable, because the media coverage usually obscures rather than illuminates an extremely simple conflict. I was able to sum up all the salient issues in three easy sentences, which I thought I'd post for the benefit of anyone following the current labor action:

1. The strike is like World War I: it will last forever, and in the end everyone will lose.

2. Until the DGA and SAG get involved, it will remain a conflict between two sides: The Greedy Bastards and The Dumb Clucks.

3. Some of the Dumb Clucks are so dumb they think we're winning.

Merry Christmas, Huffpo readers!
