Subject: I didn't expect this so soon !
I just finished flipping through the channels this morning, watching segments of FACE THE NATION with soon to be Senate majority leader Harry Reid ( D - Nevada ) and MEET THE PRESS with " Independent " ( former Democrat ) from Conn. Joe Lieberman.
I was thrilled last Tuesday night and Wednesday morning when the Dems won control of the House and Senate from the neo-fascist republicans, and of course not expecting tremendous changes from the Dems since most are bought and paid for by corporate money, but never the less, thinking that it would be a step in a better direction. ESPECIALLY, considering that even the corporate media could not ignore any longer ( via their exit polls ) that the main issue that people were voting on was ending the war ( over 65 % of the electorate ( Dems and Repubs ) ). And that 51% of the electorate wanted impeachment hearings to begin against Bush.
So here we are and the sell out of the will of the voters is already beginning !
Nancy Pelosi ( D - Calif ), soon to be Speaker ( majority leader ) of the U.S. House of Representatives, saying on Wednesday morning that ; " impeachment hearings are off the table ". Harry Reid on Face the Nation this morning stating that ; troops in Iraq will be " re-deployed " to doing better counter-insurgency programs, and Lieberman saying that ; " foriegn policy cannot be conducted by opinion polls ".
Many of you will say ; " what did you expect " ?
Well, to be truthfull, I didn't think this would happen until at least March ( after the Dems would be in control for several months ), when they would hem and haw and go through the appearance of doing something the first two months.
So this indicates not only who their masters are ( corporate money ) but just how arrogant and contemtable they are of both democracy and in particular, the will of the American people.
Some of you may say ; " what choice do we have, the Dems are still better than the Republicans " !
Well, for those of you who still believe that, then you had better do some serious soul searching as to what you think REAL democracy is and in particular what the point of voting is.
When the Democratic party via Clinton-Gore sold-out American workers with pushing for the successfull passage of NAFTA ( North American Free Trade Agreement ), de-regulated FCC ( Fedaral Communication Commision ) rules on media ownership allowing corporate monopolies to control the people's air-waves which bore fruit in the form of the Fox Nazi News Channel, begining the dis-mantling of Habeous-Corpus rights, throwing single mothers and children off of public aid and then increasing CORPORTE WELFARE via direct government subsidies and more corporate tax loop-holes, making a half ass attempt to implement a single payer health-care system, and the list goes on, and then wondering why the American voters either didn't vote, voted for Bush, or voted for Nader. Gore even lost his own home state of Tennessee ! When has that EVER happened in U.S. history ? That alone indicates just how far the Democratic party sank. And to top it all off, Gore actually won the election, but allowed Bush to steal it from him. Did Gore and the Democratic party even whimper a threat of mobilizing the people like what happened in Mexico several months ago. Hell No !, the corporate masters told Gore to roll over.
So with all of the above, resulting in the Democratic party being out of power now for twelve years, you would THINK, that they would have learned a lesson. But of course not ! because real democracy and truely representing your constituents is NOT what the corporate masters want !
So even you Democrats in denial should FINALLY wake-up and see that we now have a REAL crisis in this country. The crisis is that our democracy is in the intensive care unit and will soon die if WE THE PEOPLE do NOTHING !
If what I say pisses you off then that is O.K. ,
Just remember these words when come summer, U.S. soldiers are being slaughtered and dis-membered in ever increasing numbers, near marshall law is in effect throughout many parts of the U.S., Utility and oil prices go through the roof, and your healthcare premiums / contributions increase as well and at the same time your healthcare coverage declines.
But hey, the Wall Street Journal will praise how " sensible and bi-partisan " the Democrats are and the corporate media will tell you that everything is fine, that we live in the best democracy ( that money can buy ) !
