AP - Victory is the only meaningful exit strategy.' Henry Kissinger has
been advising President Bush and Vice President Cheney about Iraq,
telling them that 'victory is the only meaningful exit strategy,' author
and journalist Bob Woodward said. . . He said Kissinger, who served in
the Nixon and Ford administrations, has been telling Bush and Cheney
that 'in Iraq, he declared very simply, 'Victory is the only meaningful

THE BUSH REGIME continues its war against legally elected governments
with Haaretz reporting that " Condoleezza Rice will discuss steps for
strengthening Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas on her visit
to Israel this week. According to an Israeli diplomatic source, the U.S.
administration wants to shore up Abbas' position and weaken Hamas by
'creative' means, one of which would be the moving of funds to the PA

DAVID ASHENFELTER, DETROIT FREE PRESS - A federal judge in Detroit has
rejected the government's request to dismiss an ACLU lawsuit challenging
the constitutionally of the controversial USA Patriot Act, an
anti-terrorism measure Congress enacted after the 9/11 attacks.
U.S. District Judge Denise Hood issued the decision without fanfare on
Friday, nearly three years after promising a speedy decision in the
case. Congress has amended the law at least once since the government's
request was argued before Hood in December 2003.

ERIC LIPTON, NY TIMES - A consortium of major universities, using
Homeland Security Department money, is developing software that would
let the government monitor negative opinions of the United States or its
leaders in newspapers and other publications overseas. Researchers at
institutions including Cornell, the University of Pittsburgh and the
University of Utah intend to test the system on hundreds of articles
published in 2001 and 2002 on topics like President Bush's use of the
term 'axis of evil' the handling of detainees at Guantanamo Bay, the
debate over global warming and the coup attempt against President Hugo
Chavezz of Venezuela. A $2.4 million grant will finance the research
over three years. . .
