As a result of the the full-page impeachment ads in newspapers, the mass demonstrations, rallies in Congressional districts, and the more than 650,000 people that have joined the impeachment campaign at ImpeachBush.org, the political climate in the United States has changed.

We want to place the next big ad in a major newspaper and need your help to do so.

There are now 27 members of the House of Representatives, including John Conyers, the ranking Democrat on the House Judiciary Committee who are supporting a bill, H. Res 635, calling for "a select committee to investigate the Administration's intent to go to war before Congressional authorization, manipulation of pre-war intelligence, encouraging and countenancing torture, retaliating against critics, and to make recommendations regarding grounds for possible impeachment."

"Our principles are enshrined in our Constitution and a system of duly enacted laws, and in a government where all are accountable and no one is above the law," stated Rep. Barbara Lee of California, one of the co-sponsors of the impeachment inquiry. "Our Constitution gives us a system of checks and balances and divided power because our founders were bitterly familiar with dealing with an unaccountable executive and were determined that our nation should not have a king," said Congresswoman Lee.

At the same time the Congressional inquiry moves forward, recent polls reveal that the majority of the country now favors impeachment if the President either lied about the reasons for going to war or broke federal law with his illegal wire-tapping program. This is a clear-cut sign that the impeachment movement is becoming a decisive factor in U.S. politics.

We have exciting new opportunities for the impeachment movement to grow to new heights. It would be a monumental mistake to sit back and assume that Congressional representatives or other politicians will proceed with the impeachment campaign without grassroots pressure and community support. Impeachment will only become a reality if the people lead this movement.

We now must step up the pressure by:

  • Placing the ImpeachBush ad in additional newspapers and spreading the word in the mass media. Impeachment supporters are taking the ad and placing it in small and medium sized papers around the country. For example, we just received word that the ad has been republished in Butte, Montana. The impeachment movement has received initial support to place a full-page in the San Francisco Chronicle which reaches throughout northern California, but we need additional donations to make the placement of that ad in the next few weeks. Click here to help place that ad.

  • Call and write Congress. The next People's Impeachment Lobby will take place from February 28 - March 1. ImpeachBush.org will set up another easy-to-use mechanism so that impeachment campaign members and supporters can write directly to their representatives insisting that they support the call for a congressional inquiry to investigate grounds for impeachment. Be sure to tell your friends and family to participate.

  • Organize local impeachment events and teach-ins in your community to discuss the grounds for impeachment. Take the impeachment petition, available at ImpeachBush.org and circulate it among your friends, co-workers and neighbors.

  • Spread the word any way you can - and display the clear message to Impeach Bush with your own lawn signs, bumper stickers, baseball caps, t-shirts and sweat-shirts which you can get at the Impeach Bush resource center.

It is up to us in this movement to bring this administration to justice and to defend and save the Constitution. Your help is needed today, so please donate to support this important effort.
