CONGRESS.ORG WEEKLY UPDATE December 5, 2006

TELL CONGRESS WHEN TO GET US OUT OF IRAQ

Also: Coming Up in Congress This Week

The Iraq Study Group this week will reportedly set the end of 2008 as the date for the withdrawal of US combat forces in Iraq. What’s your opinion on setting a date for a withdrawal from Iraq? Tell your Member of Congress what you think?

Yes, the US should set a firm date for withdrawal from Iraq, regardless of the security status in the country.

No, the US should allow events on the ground determine a withdrawal timetable.

THIS WEEK IN CONGRESS
Also this week the Senate will hold confirmation hearings and a probable confirmation vote on Robert Gates to replace Donald Rumsfeld as Secretary of Defense. Congress is also not likely to pass any appropriations bills and will pass a continuing resolution to defer those bills to the new Democrat controlled Congress next year. A vote on expanding oil drilling in coastal waters is possible as well.
