Have the problems with our elections been solved? What’s been done to fix the mess that happened in 2000 and then again and again in subsequent elections? Are we ready for Election Day 2006? The answer will not surprise you: we're not ready yet.
We have been working to build a campaign called Get It Straight by 2008. We are working in Congress and in states around the country to make sure we don't have an election meltdown in that critical election.
Today, Common Cause released a report titled “Voting in 2006: Have We Solved the Problems of 2004?” We hope you will take a look at this report, see the problems we still face in our democracy and get on board our campaign. We can use your activism and your generous donation.

The warnings in this report have been echoed in editorials:
Six years after the "hanging chad" presidential election debacle in Florida and four years after Congress passed legislation designed to prevent such disasters from happening again, alarms are once again being raised that these pivotal Congressional elections could be beset by chaos at the polls.1
We'll help pass strong reform measures, fight bad legislation, consult with election officials on best practices, and enlist thousands of citizens to advocate for an overhaul of our current system.
We'll be asking you to be active in these efforts. Right now, your generous donation will help us build and wage an effective campaign.

Thank you for all your support.

P.S. A new report from Common Cause, The Century Foundation and The Leadership Conference on Civil Rights shows that most problems exposed in the 2004 election remain unresolved in many states, and some have been exacerbated, threatening to mar the mid-term elections in just four weeks. Visit our blog to see the full report.
