VIRTUAL MARCH

Last night, President Bush gave his State of the Union Address. He did not, however, address the serious threats to our wildlife and natural legacy from Big Oil and their friends in Congress.

It's time we stand together to take on the politicians and greedy special interests that are threatening our natural heritage, our health, and the wildlife you and I care about! Along with our partners at Care2.com, today we're launching our Earth Day Virtual March to Leave No Species Behind.

This is a crucial time for our vanishing wildlife -- Please sign up now to join our virtual march on Washington!

Why should you march? Because…

  • Our wolves, big cats and other endangered critters should be around for our children and grandchildren to enjoy.
  • Our water should be free of mercury and pesticides, our air unpolluted, and our beaches unspoiled by pollution from offshore oil drilling.
  • And folks like you and me -- not just the free-spending lobbyists and greedy special interests who pay them -- deserve a say in the policies that affect our country’s precious wildlife and other natural treasures.

Representative Richard Pombo, handpicked lieutenant of indicted former House Majority Leader Representative Tom DeLay, has launched an unprecedented assault on our wildlife and vanishing wild places.

Pombo has spent the last year proposing legislation to sell off some of our most beautiful national parks and to promote harmful drilling off our coasts and in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. He pushed to allow the transfer of millions of acres of public lands to mining companies and real estate developers. And he was the architect of a bill that would take a wrecking ball to the Endangered Species Act.

For too long, Pombo and his pals in Congress have waged war on our wildlife while they pocketed huge campaign donations from Big Oil, timber companies, and irresponsible developers.

Let's take a stand for our treasured wildlife! Please join the Virtual March to Leave No Species Behind and urge your Representative and Senators to vote against Pombo's anti-wildlife agenda.

Between now and Earth Day, the Defenders of Wildlife Action Fund and our partners at Care2.com are committed to bringing together tens of thousands of concerned citizens in an unprecedented virtual march on Washington.

In fact, we’re so determined to make this march a success that we’re bringing our most powerful asset to bear -- you, your friends, and your family.

For every person you recruit to participate in the Virtual March to Leave No Species Behind, you’ll be entered for a chance to win a brand new iPod Nano! The more people you recruit, the greater your chance to win… And the best part is that you’ll be able to track the impact you’re making on a personal, interactive map that shows all the people you’ve recruited.

So please take just a moment out of your day to be a part of something big -- Join the Virtual March to Leave No Species Behind.

Thank you for all you do to protect wildlife. With your help, we’ll make sure the politicians in Washington take notice.

Sincerely,

Rodger Schlickeisen, President
