With just a week until Pennsylvania, the Democratic candidates participated in the "Compassion Forum," which ultimately led to attacks on each other that were anything but compassionate. McCain has been acting as a spectator to the Clinton-Obama contest (poking his head in periodically to comment) as his campaign finances and age once again come under scrutiny. This week, we highlight the recent foreclosure bill and Health Insurance.

What You Don't Know About Your Health Insurance Could Soon Be Costing You Thousands.

Even if you have health insurance, you may see your prescription drug costs rise higher than your monthly mortgage. Yes, you heard me right. You could be paying $20 a month for your prescription medicine today, and hundreds (or even thousands) tomorrow.

This is a story that has been developing for years (thanks to the Bush administration), but for some reason has gotten little to no attention from the media. I wonder if that could have anything to do with all the money the media collects from the pharmaceutical industry in advertising (over 33 billion just in 2004)? Conflict of interest? Even after an article in The New York Times became one of the most emailed stories yesterday, I was only able to find one (25 second) video clip from a major news outlet covering this story.

So, how will this affect you? Here is some of the information you aren't hearing about until you get to the pharmacy...

Thanks to the Petraeus Senate Hearings this week, we are now NO closer to understanding what success in Iraq might look like if it were to happen. After sitting through two days of this total waste of time, money, and sanity...I have no comment. But, I did just happen to check out my recorded version of last night's The Daily Show, and Jon Stewart sums-up the hearings perfectly, so I thought I would share a video clip of it with you...

Housing Bill Passes in the Senate

I wrote about this last week in a post titled - A Foreclosure Prevention Bill That Will Not Prevent Foreclosures. This is a travesty against families and homeowners in our country. What is even more infuriating to me, is that the three candidates for president didn't even vote! I think that is totally WRONG.

The voting public deserves to know whether the candidate they are supporting cares about them, or just the banking and housing industry that this bill is designed to bail-out. These Senators should not be able to pick and choose what they will vote on. And if they will not comply voluntarily, then there should be some sort of policy that Senators running for president vote on ALL Senate bills (even if that means by proxy).

A handful of Senate conservatives, most notably the no. 2 Republican Jon Kyl of Arizona, opposed the Senate bill. The three presidential candidates _ John McCain, Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama did not show up for the vote.

Consumer groups like the AARP ripped the Senate bill for failing to take direct action on behalf of homeowners facing foreclosure.

"AARP is disappointed the legislation failed to include needed provisions that would help prevent foreclosures," said David Sloane, AARP's senior vice president. "We are now looking to leaders in the House of Representatives, as well as further efforts in the Senate, to provide help that would allow millions of families prevent foreclosure on their homes."
