Thanks to PDA chapters nationwide that have taken the lead with screenings of the new documentary “War Made Easy.” I’ve already participated, via speakerphone, in lively after-movie Q&A sessions in several states. And I’m looking forward to more.
If you don’t yet have the DVD, I hope you’ll order it now through this link, which benefits PDA.
The film features stunning archival footage of official lies and media complicity in wars from Vietnam to Iraq. But the movie also includes the heroic voice of PDA advisory board member Barbara Lee. PDA has made “War Made Easy” its own -- using the film to inform, agitate and organize. Howard Zinn calls the movie “superb.” Katrina vanden Heuvel of The Nation magazine describes it as “chilling and persuasive.” The documentary is causing similar responses wherever it’s shown: Anger. Grief. And most importantly, determination to mobilize to end the Iraq war and prevent future military madness.
The producer of the film, the Media Education Foundation, has done a superb job of reaching into the Orwellian memory hole and putting five decades of lethal pro-war spin into sharp focus. The rest is up to us. And up to vital activist groups like PDA to spread the word.
Peace and justice,
Norman Solomon
