Join Iraq war veterans, active duty servicemembers
& their families as we all stand together on
September 15 to End the War Now!
See below for a message from Tina Richards of Grassroots America about Sept. 15
The September 15 March on Washington DC will be taking the anti-war movement to a new level. This will not be a typical demonstration. These will be Days of Decision as General David Petraeus issues the Pentagon and White House report on September 15 insisting that the war must drag on for years to come.
The September 15 Coalition, initiated by ANSWER, is broad and representative, and is organizing people from all over the country to descend on Washington at that critical moment.
Iraq war veterans and their families, as well as active duty U.S. servicemembers, will form a large front contingent of the demonstration. Following a permitted march they will lead a large scale Die-In of thousands of people who will dramatically symbolize all those who have fallen in the Iraq war. This part of the demonstration will be a civil disobedience action and those participating will be prepared to risk arrest. Everyone should be very clear: you do not need to participate in the civil disobedience action, and everyone will have the option of participating only in the permitted march and rally.
The mass civil disobedience action will be led by Iraq Veterans Against the War (IVAW). The Pentagon and the Bush Administration have been trying to punish and intimidate veterans and active duty servicemembers from speaking out, organizing and telling the truth about the war.
We are asking you and thousands of people like you to take a stand on September 15. The demonstration will be addressed by Cindy Sheehan; Malik Rahim of Common Ground Collective in New Orleans; Ramsey Clark; Mahdi Bray of the Muslim American Society Freedom Foundation; Mounzer Sleiman of the National Council of Arab Americans; Jonathan Hutto of Appeal for Redress; IVAW leaders, including Garett Reppenhagen, Adam Kokesh, Liam Madden; Tina Richards, and others.
Everyone can participate in the mass march and rally. We also need to know if you can participate in the Die-In/Funeral. The national and international media will be focused on Washington DC when Petraeus makes his report on September 15 and this action will be seen by the whole world.
Iraq Veterans Against the War (IVAW), the ANSWER Coalition and other organizations are recruiting 4,000 people to participate in the mass Die-In/Funeral. This will be a profound statement. At the very moment Congress is debating refunding the war, Iraq war veterans and all of us will be representing those who have been killed in this illegal war of aggression. We will represent both the U.S. and Iraqi dead. By September 15, nearly 4,000 U.S. troops will have died. For the Iraqi people, the number is 3,000 every month.
We must act now with courage and resolve. Please indicate how you can show your support for September 15. Everyone can make a commitment at some level but we can only succeed because of the commitment and support of individuals who understand the need to act now.

From Tina Richards,
Marine Mom and Founder, Grassroots America:
March on Washington DC, September 15, 2007
The power of our government is derived from "we the people", but what happens when the government casts aside their duty to represent us? It is time for us to rise up and refuse to be the path of least resistance. On September 15, 2007, Gen. Petraeus will deliver his report on Iraq. The same report politicians have been hiding behind as more of our children die, American and Iraqi. On September 15, we will be joining in solidarity with peace warriors across the nation as we march from the White House to the Capitol to demand "End the War NOW." We will not let our politicians hide behind yet another report determined to say we are turning another corner, or that we have reached another milestone while our children lie dead and return home broken and abused by their own government, while yet more Iraqis die and are devastated by this occupation.
We, as a peace movement, have turned a corner. We have reached our milestone. Unlike the Bush administration, our words are not hollow. We have spent the last five years exposing the illegality and immorality of this war. We have the Nation, the World on our side. We have marched in the streets. We have demonstrated at the polls. We have demanded from our government "End this War NOW!" We cannot become the path of least resistance. We are obligated to take the next step as a peace movement. This next step is direct action. On September 15 we will finish with a rally like no other. We will finish with an action to take the peace movement to our next step.
During the rally, Iraq Veterans Against the War will be leading a funeral for our troops and Iraqis whose lives have been unjustly taken in this immoral and illegal war. We are asking you to lie down for them in DC during this massive die-in.
As Petraeus delivers his report on September 15, there cannot be silence in DC.
Marine Mom,
Tina Richards
