Most of us don’t get CEO paychecks and we’re not going to get rich on our stock portfolios. For most of us, the best opportunity to get ahead economically is by joining a union so we can bargain with our employers for better wages and benefits. But the current system is broken. Every day, corporations intimidate, harass, coerce and even fire people who try to form unions and bargain. Employers use these tactics very successfully to hold down working families’ living standards.

The Employee Free Choice Act would change that by strengthening penalties on companies that coerce or intimidate employees, establishing mediation and binding arbitration when the employer and workers cannot agree on a first contract and enabling employees to form unions when a majority signs authorization cards.

This is going to be the fight of our lives. Corporations will not willingly give up the power they have today to deny workers’ freedom to choose for themselves whether to gain union representation and bargain. We have to take every opportunity we have to win votes in Congress for the Employee Free Choice Act.

Next week, your members of Congress will be in their district offices. And that’s where you can find them during the Employee Free Choice Act week of action. Use our flier to encourage people you know to contact their members of Congress and urge them to support the Employee Free Choice Act.
