REPUBLICANS TAKE GAY PORN MONEY WHILE BASH DEMOCRAT FOR DOING SAME
TALKING POINTS MEMO - Last week, the RNC, headed by Ken Mehlman, was
running that race-baiting 'bimbo' ad against Rep. Harold Ford (D) down
in Tennessee. One of the barbs in that ad was the claim that Ford had
taken political contributions from "porn movie producers." But it seems
there is plenty of porn movie producer money to go around.
It turns out that the Republican National Committee is a regular
recipient of political contributions from Nicholas T. Boyias, the owner
and CEO of Marina Pacific Distributors, one of the largest producers and
distributors of gay porn in the United States. [A] recent article on
Marina Pacific's new marketing campaign form XBiz, a porn industry trade
sheet, notes that, in addition to producing its own material, the
"company acts as a distribution house to hundreds of lines, mostly gay,
40 of which can be purchased only through MPD."
The company actually seems to be a trendsetter in the industry. As
Boyias recently noted, "We have always modeled ourselves after a
Fortune-style company. They are the models of exceptional customer
service. We have formed strategic alliances with our vendors and
customers alike, offering them tools and marketing to assist them in
succeeding with their business models. Our one-on-one interpersonal
relationships have never been duplicated in the distribution industry.".
. .
FEC.gov lists Boyias as contributing to the RNC three times in 2004 and
two times in 2005. The NRCC got a little too. But only $250.

EVEN SECOND GRADERS GETTING INTERESTED IN ELECTION
JACK MCENANY, LOST NATION, NH - My 7-year old son came home from school
yesterday and recounted a political discussion he had with his friends
on the playground about our congressman, Rep Charlie Bass (R-NH). "I
told them if you want to know about Bass," he said, "Just take the 'B'
off his name. They all laughed, so I told them you taught me that."
Which is patently false. I never said any such thing, but every time he
gets caught swearing, he blames it on me. And for some reason, people
believe the little shit.
What's more interesting than my son's budding stand-up career, or
whether I can expect a visit from the Child Welfare Office, is the
thought of second graders taking time out of kickball to argue politics.
It's a good indication that a sea change is coming.
Another indicator is the low number of undecided voters in the polling
data. Nearly across the board, fewer than 10% of respondents are "Don't
Knows." Undecideds generally don't vote anyway, but if they do, and
they're still making up their minds two weeks before the election, it
doesn't bode well for incumbents.
I realize these are unscientific extrapolations, but so are most polls –
especially exit polls – because they've been "wrong" in the last three
elections. And the chattering class on cable television, all of who have
a vested interest in the outcome, are far less reliable than my kid's
school yard comments. So while the opinions of 7-year olds may not count
for much in Washington, the fact that they have them at all should raise
the alarm for the party in power.
