IN KEEPING with the new spirit of bipartisanship, here are some of the
major issues that neither party addressed seriously during the campaign
and for which neither party has a decent, coherent program. We welcome

Ending hostilities against Islam

Ending use of torture

MORE ISSUES IN THE SHADOW OF BIPARTISANSHIP
Our list of issues that will probably be ignored or given lip service by
bother parties was too short according to a number of readers. Here are
some of their additions:
- I would add, generally, "education reform" i.e. that a basic public

- Sustainable economics
- How capitalism hurts the middle class and working poor - Bill Huston

- Rescuing Darfur

- Agriculture reform including parity pricing, sustainability, removal
of toxic crop inputs, fair trade, removing the corporate interests from
the USDA, ban on genetically modified organisms including crops and
livestock for food as well as non-food crops, ban on patenting of all
forms of life, reform of the National Organic Program elimination of
factory farms and the practices that cause E. Coli outbreaks such as the
recent lettuce/spinach debacle, etc.

- Holding Bush & Cheney accountable for the lies or gross incompetence
that took us into Iraq
- Establishing a national right to vote, including the right to vote on
a paper ballot - Nan Garrett, Georgia

- The downward spiral of America into oligarchy and the war on the
working class
- Returning to a locally-based food supply
- Restoring the fairness doctrine for all public media
- Government accountability
- Foreign policy that emphasizes diplomacy and generosity rather than
military aid and belligerence
- Rebuilding the American economy and decreasing the national debt
- Sustainable energy policy
- Homelessness and poverty
- Gender and racial equality in government, education, and business
- constitutional amendment enshrining the right to vote and meaningful
election reform of the election process

- Worldwide nuclear disarmament.
- Joining the world court.
- Amending the Constitution to make it clear that corporations are not
citizens and do not have the same rights as citizens.
- 100% equal rights for every human residing on US soil.
