Scano, hello,

I am writing in response to the recent article from The Hamilton Spectator -
"From Terror to Forgiveness" written October 7, 2006, by John Blake.

Charles Raynal, who teaches theology at Columbia Theological Seminary in
Decatur is quoted in this article as saying, "It's understandable for people
who have been victimized to be 'Angry'. Anger is tricky. It can be the
motivation to confront justice and evil. Anger has a way of outliving its
usefulness and it has a way of turning in on itself and cultivating the
desire for revenge."

We at Kanastaton and throughout other Territories have every reason to take
local resident, Gary McHale's actions very serious, as there is room for
'potential danger and violence'. He incites 'Terrorism' by inflicting
'Terror' on our families, especially our elders and children, who ask us,
"Will you be alright? Why do they want to come onto the site and what will
they do if they get in?"

What about your children, your families' children, and other families? The
truth is, we are in the middle of a psychological warfare and the key word
is "war" therefore they want us to 'surrender.' There is a two tier
difference - What will one choose between a solution and an answer? For one
to search for a solution, one has to think of everyone, our people included,
something some are not used to. As for trying to find an answer, that answer
is within the beholder and it all depends on how you look at life and how
you value it.

Answers fall short, as sometimes, one cannot look beyond themselves and it
becomes their own reasoning alone. In other words, if we all had the
opportunity to come up with answers, it would create confusion. Is the logic
there when one doesn't know anything about our past relationships with that
outside world or the Treaties that were signed that marked the commitment
for Peace between the Europeans and us? Why does one make it their business
when they are not of this area? Is it just a business deal and if so, who
reaps the benefits?

Sincerely,

Jacqueline House, 6Nations

"Why Now?"

Throughout history, the people acting on behalf of the governments of this
world are a part of 'committing genocide' against our People, out of 'anger'
because of our 'Birth Rights' as we are 'Title Holders' to the land. I
search for answers, as most of our People have done throughout, questioning
why our People have been held hostage and imprisoned with pain and
suffering. I realize there is no answer as there is no justification for
inflicting 'terror' on innocent people. Whether it is done by attacking our
people with guns, stealing of the land, molesting the innocence, or trying
to rob us of our identity, it is still 'terror' on innocent people.

Everyday we see our children who show the loneliness in their
eyes and their hidden tears. Everyday we are reminded of this pain and it is
torture as our hands are tied. When one of our women is missing, only to be
later found dead? When one of our men is left for dead in the middle of
nowhere; beaten and dropped off by the acting law enforcements? When one of
our children is killed from a gun wound from someone in the lower apartment
while he lay asleep feeling safe in his own home? When the untold truth of a
woman named Anna Mae Aquash, who was cowardly shot in
the back of the head and left laying in the desert - unclaimed?

What about Leonard Peltier, who was framed just because he knew too much,
then locked up in prison to finish out his life there for no just cause?
What about Dudley George who was shot and killed by a sniper just for
standing up for his Land Rights? What about all the children that were
stolen away from us and placed in residential schools only to be raped,
beaten, molested and killed?
What about the cold hearted massacres where countless of our people were
slaughtered? What about our women that have miscarriages because of the
pesticides that are being used so the tribe will someday vanish? What about
our children being born with deformed limbs because of the chemicals that
pollute our waters? What about the suicide rates and the drug and alcohol
abuse contributed through oppression? What about the injustice when one of
our men sits in jail being denied bail because he is of a different color
skin?

Since the April 20th, 2006 attack against our People, who were mostly women
sleeping, only to be wakened at 4:45 am staring into the end of a gun, many
have been arrested with absurd charges for being natural defenders; whereas,
it is not our People out there inciting 'hate crimes'. Every day there are
reminders of - Why Now?

The day we made a stand with our feet firmly planted on the ground was for
our children so that they never have to see their children's hidden
feelings. For some it may be nothing; but it is everything to most. Each and
every one of us suffers the affects of all that has been done to our People
with the children suffering the most. So trying to get others to understand
is a struggle when we do not understand ourselves, why these things happen
to our People. Nevertheless, we continue to search for answers that never
come. We have lost so much more than the innocence of our children. We lost
'what could have been.' How does one look into the eyes of an innocent
child and try to tell them everything will be all right when one is unsure
and you know there are people out there that are 'angry' because of who We
are?

These people that are staging this rally on October 15th may very well be
pawns or they are acting out their own 'anger'. Who knows? I am not judging,
nor pointing fingers as I was told through out my growing years, "When you
lie, you are only
lying to yourself and the truth will come out sooner or later." People speak
of the two-tiered law that supposedly revolves around our people, OPP, and
the government as if we are getting away with murder. This unique situation
will take time and patience and if we can exercise patience for over two
hundred years? I'm sure you can handle a little time, as this isn't about
you or the Caledonians. It's about doing what is right. We are merely
looking for solutions that involve us as intended and if there have been any
acts of injustice; it has always been for the benefit of the outside and
never once included our people.

The government sits high on a throne as you, the voters, allow them to sit.
All the diamonds, gold, and oil in the world will never benefit the citizens
any more than it will benefit our People. It will only make the acting
officials heads bigger as they try to rule the world through their man made
ideas. So why do some people want us off the site? When that first boat came
here, we welcomed the people and when they wanted to make it their home we
shared. Never once did we say, "Go home!" Further, We ARE HOME! Remember
this as you sing the anthem throughout high school, "Your home on Native
Land!" We are merely taking back our responsibilities that are placed on us
the moment we enter into this world. Our duty is to look after 'Mother
Earth' and 'All the coming of new faces'. With this peaceful stand, we put
Caledonia on the map and they have every opportunity to take advantage of
this and turn it into a positive step that will benefit their community. The
negative approach will get nobody anywhere, other than create confrontation.

As far as calling on the Americans for help? Well, our title is 'North
American' so why are you wanting us off the land with one answer and in the
other, want us to help you all? Take a step back in time when our children
weren't allowed to attend Caledonia High School. We accepted this. We never
agreed with it, nor did we turn to confrontation. Again we took what that
outside threw at us.

I remember in the beginning, how Toby Barrett came onto the site and asked
us, "Is there anything I can do for you?" He told us a
story of the families back in the day. He was going to Ottawa and thought it
would be a good idea for us to get a couple of letters ready and he would
take them for us. So, we hurriedly ran around getting letters to send with
him. But, because we have learned a great deal about that outside world, we
got him to sign and date when he received these letters in his hands and we
still have his signature with the date in our possession.

As far as Indian and Northern Affairs, you stepped into the wrong canoe a
long time ago by trying to imprison us with that outside influence and stole
our papers and documents with the RCMP attacking our unarmed people. You
were wrong back then and our canoe is becoming unbalanced as there are too
many of you and we can no longer carry the weight. It is time for you to
step out of our canoe and stop steering it.

Governor General Michelle Jean, who was placed here in
Canada to help protect Her Majesty's Interests? It is time for you to play
out your role, so I am extending an invitation to Kanastaton October 15,
2006, as there is potential danger placed on Her Majesty's Allies: The
Haundensaunee of Six Nations. A man with the last name McHale claims he will
be 'Marching for Freedom' onto our land no matter what, when in fact it is
our people that have been under siege well over 200 years. We are sitting
peacefully and proudly and we do not declare war.

In a recent Hamilton Spectator article, Tuhaboyne, who is a survivor of
Rwandans of 1993 after a mob attacked his high school goes on to say, "If I
have any advice for anyone who suffered a tragedy, it is to find those
glimmers of hope. They are there and no matter how small or insignificant
they seem in the face of the pain you've endured, they are far more powerful
and more enduring than anything you will face."

Not to discredit or take away from Tuhaboyne, but our
People have practiced forgiveness from the day the government stepped into
our canoe and tried to steer it, committing genocide through terrorism as
everyday we were sentenced with terror of what is endless pain and torment.
We have made plenty of sacrifices so the citizens of Canada can live free
and enjoy
this freedom. Today, we continue to make these sacrifices for our children
and their children by doing so, restoring our Inherent Rights as we are not
historic nor do we play a distant memory.

Most importantly, for the coming of 'All New Faces' as it was intended, so
too, all of our children can live free and their bare feet can feel Mother
Earth.

From a mother's advice, take a long hard look in the mirror; it is only you
who stares back. Take a look at your children. They are replicas of you and
their father. Someday they will be raising your grand children. Can you
honestly be proud of them? If so, ask them to turn on the TV, on Sunday
October 15th and allow them to see what you are creating and while you are
at it, step into a child's innocent mind and look around. Do you see "Peace
and Harmony,
created by Unity?" Or, do you see "devastation created by destruction?"
Now take yourself on your deathbed when you are done here on earth. Will you
have a smile on your face, or will you still be screaming inside for
self-righteousness?

We will sit back no longer and accept 'Terrorism' placed upon us because of
who we are and no longer will we fight back the tears when we are asked,
"Why are we unable to speak in our own tongue!" We will make way for the
next generations and all that is yet to come.

Nya Weh, thank you,

Jacqueline House
