Why don't we teach our school children the truth? Who and why is the truth not being told?

Comment: And then there is the question of why Pres. Roosevelt wanted to get the US into the European war.
Pat Buchanan in his new book, Churchill, Hitler, and the Unnecessary War he points out that Germany was no threat to the U.S and incapable of invading England.
Germany was not prepared in 1939 for a long war or total war; her economic and industrial effort was by no means fully harnessed: her factories were not producing war material at anything like full capacity.
(p. 336)
Germany's air force (Luftwatte) was too weak to blast Britain into submission, and the German navy was not strong enough to insure a landing of sufficient German troops to conquer the poorly prepared British isles. (p. 342)
Historians searched Nazi archives in vain for plans to dispatch armies to Canada or Latin America to attack the United States. There are no known German plans to acquire the thousand ships needed to convey and convoy such an army and its artillery, tanks, planes, guns, munitions, equipment, fuel, and food across the Atlantic or to supply such an army.
Hitler's navy was that of a Germany whose ambitions lay on land. Had he ever planned to invade England, he would have built troopships, landing barges, and transport to ferry tanks and artillery across the Channel - and warships to escort his landing craft, provide fire support for the invasion, and keep the Royal Navy out of the Channel while the invasion force was crossing. He did not of this.
When FDR warned of a Hitler master plan to conquer South and Central America, he was spouting British propaganda. No concrete evidence of any plans to invade the Western Hemisphere was discovered. (p. 344)
Once the Luftwaffe had lost the Battle of Britain (began in mid-August 1940 and end in May 1941), Germany presented no moral threat to the United States, and the threat of invasion of the British isles, did not exist. (p. 337)
Hitler issued the "stop order" to his Panzers, letting the British army escape at Dunkirk. (p. 332)
Comment: The point Buchanan makes in his book, is that had the US stayed out of World War II longer or totally, the Germans would have fought Stalin Army and German soldiers would have died in weakening the Soviets. This therefore, may have reduced the threat from the USSR and maybe, lessened the length of the Cold War, or prevented it, and the deaths and hardships that Stalin inflected on his own people - war crimes in great number than those of Hitler.
Was FDR suckered by the British and/or was US intelligence so bad?
None of this is to minimize the crimes of Nazi ideology and Hitler's regime, or the capabilities of the Nazi war machine.
The world greatly overestimated German's air strength. When the war began, Germany bombers lacked the range even to reach London. German strategic bombing and fighter defense were developed too little, too late, and with too much muddle. ( p. 431)
Had Hitler invested in submarines and magnetic mines instead of a couple of battleships, had he built fleets of four-engine bombers with which to attack British ports and the docks and ships on which the British depended for survival, Hitler could have force the British to sue for peace. Germany was a land power, not a sea power, a continental power, not a world power. (Churchill, Hitler, and the Unnecessary War, p; 348)

By the summer of 1940, Hitler had conquered almost all of western Europe and appeared about to invade Britain itself. By the spring of 1941, Britain had suffered the loss of Greece and Crete and was being pounded in North Africa. By the late fall Hitler's army stood before the gates of Moscow.
At the outset of the European war in 1939, the British had distinct advantages in seeking American aid: a common political and cultural tradition and several decades of informal political alliances. But there were also sources of tension: the British record in Ireland, India, and Palestine was widely perceived as oppressive; Britain still owed war debts to the United States; and Britain's recent diplomacy in Ethiopia, Spain, and Czechoslovakia was less than distinguished.
In the British propaganda effort, Cull shows, American foreign correspondents played a crucial role, as the British wisely cultivated a working relationship with the American press. The British manipulated specific instances of bomb damage, for example, by releasing in the United States photos deemed too gruesome to be shown at home. CBS's Edward R. Murrow was so effective in conveying what the British were undergoing that Churchill offered him the post of co-director general of the BBC.
Knowing how important movies were to the American public, the British quickly established a beachhead in Hollywood. Alfred Hitchcock (Foreign Correspondant, 1940) and Alexander Korda (That Hamilton Woman, 1941) joined the American movie colony, serving as able emissaries. Also stationed in America were classicist Gilbert Highet and philosophers A. J. Ayer and Isaiah Berlin. Inside the British Isles a host of authors wrote propaganda with more than one eye toward the United States-political scientist Harold J. Laski, novelists Graham Greene and C. S. Forester (whose name Cull curiously misspells), and publicist Norman Angell, a converted pacifist.

American entry into the war did not come about by accident. Quite the contrary, an extraordinary propaganda campaign by the British moved America from "neutral in thought, word, and deed" to armed intervention.
"On October 27, 1941, during his Navy Day speech, [President Franklin] Roosevelt made an astonishing claim: 'I have in my possession a secret map, made in Germany by Hitler's government, by planners of the new world order. It is a map of South America and part of Central America, as Hitler proposes to organize it'" (p. 170).
In fact, the map was a crude forgery; and although Cull does not establish its origins with certainty, William Stephenson, notorious for his "dirty tricks" as the head of British Security Coordination in New York, bears primary responsibility for its dissemination.

An undercover Maryland State Police trooper infiltrated nonviolent groups and labeled dozens of people as terrorists.

"'Lucy' was an undercover Maryland State Police trooper who between 2005 and 2007 infiltrated more than two dozen rallies and meetings of nonviolent groups. Maryland officials now concede that, based on information gathered by 'Lucy' and others, state police wrongly listed at least 53 Americans as terrorists in a criminal intelligence database- and shared some information about them with half a dozen state and federal agencies, including the National Security Agency. Among those labeled as terrorists: two Catholic nuns, a former Democratic congressional candidate, a lifelong pacifist and a registered lobbyist. One suspect's file warned that she was "involved in puppet making and allows anarchists to utilize her property for meetings." Investigators, the files show, targeted groups that advocated against abortion, global warming, nuclear arms, military recruiting in high schools and biodefense research, among other issues.
"It was unconscionable conduct," said Democratic state Sen. Brian Frosh, who is backing legislation to ban similar spying in Maryland unless the police superintendent can document a "reasonable, articulable suspicion" of criminal activity.

November 21, 2008 It appears that the FBI may have been using a station faking technology that would allow them to locate an individual through their cell phone. The ACLU is concerned with how this technology is used and if there was proper judicial oversight. In the USA Patriot ACT, this process for obtaining a track was made easier, and could allow for little to no judicial oversight. This tracking via cell phones could have been used during the RNC without the knowledge of even the phone companies.
The National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA), is one of the
organizations that is mentioned in the report that is particular cause for
concern. NGA provides mapping tools and imagery intelligence that are obtained from the United State's military spy satellites which are controlled by the National Reconnaissance Office.
A second agency that was involved in the planning is the Pentagon's
Northern Command, NORTHCOM. Having NORTHCOMM at the table, assisting in the planning is troubling because it could mean that the military was involved in the crowd control strategies and dealing with potential civil unrest.
