The Golden State Theatre is proud to welcome the legendary
alternate-reality comedy group The Firesign Theatre to Monterey.
The Firesign Theatre, once described by The Library of Congress
as "The Beatles of Comedy," specialize in a unique, multi-media
form of non-linear humor. They were ranked among the "Thirty
Greatest Comedy Acts of All Time" by Entertainment Weekly in 1997.
The troupe has undertaken film-making, book-writing, television,
radio and stage productions. Some twenty-plus record albums,
three films, three television specials, two books and innumerable
radio programs have been the result.
The Firesign Theatres most famous character creation, Nick Danger,
Third Eye, was born in 1969, as Side Two of their never out-of-
print second LP release for Columbia, How Can You Be In Two Places
At Once, When Youre Not Anywhere At All? The album introduced not
only Nick and his radio nemesis Sgt. Bradshaw, sleezy weasel Rocky
Rococo, old girlfriend Nancy, and Catherwood, the troublesome butler,
but, on the flip side of the disk, Ralph Spoilsport, L.A.s great
TV car salesman (Hiya, friends!).
The group is marking Nick Dangers 40th Birthday with a new boxed
cd set and this rare concert performance.
Other albums include Waiting for the Electrician or Someone Like
Him, Don't Crush That Dwarf, Hand Me the Pliers, I Think We're
All Bozos on This Bus, Everything You Know Is Wrong, Give Me
Immortality or Give Me Death, Boom Dot Bust, Bride of Firesign
and the newly released Box of Danger.
Offer not good after curfew in
Sectors R or N.

From the International Mystery Writers' Festival:
Special audio CD of the 2008 Live Radio Theatre - the special
event performances (double-bill) of Ray Bradbury's "It Burns
Me Up" and Mary Higgins Clark's "My Gal Sunday."
This hour-long program features fine performances by our Live
Radio Players including Gary Sandy, Phil Proctor, David Ossman,
Melinda Peterson, Amy Walker, and many talented others (including
Firesign friend Richard Fish) with remarks by Mary Higgins Clark.
Fully dramatized with sound effects and music, the recorded live
performance brings you into our theatre through the magic of
"radio", which you can enjoy at home, on the road, or as a
special experience with family and friends.
Both the live stage performances and the CD were produced in
association with Otherworld Media, a multiple Grammy-nominated
and international award-winning audio production team headed by
Judith Walcutt and David Ossman.
