Student Activists Challenge Automakers - Help them out!

This week, automakers are congregating at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit for their annual extravaganza of glitz, glam and greenwash. But pasting a "green" theme on a business-as-usual auto show can't cover up the auto industry's continued negligence on fuel efficiency and global warming pollution.

That's why I spent the weekend in Detroit with a group of courageous student activists from a half-dozen Michigan college campuses demanding real and immediate action from the automakers. The students congregated for a weekend of activist skills-building, climate movement networking, and auto show action focused on telling the automakers that this generation of students "refuses to drive the cars that are driving global warming."

The students inspired me--and each other--with their energy, creativity, and commitment to advocating for green cars and green jobs to cut global warming pollution and revitalize communities in their home state.

Unfortunately, the automakers' greenwashing won't stop when the auto show is over.

GM just launched a fancy new website--filled with dubious claims about corporate responsibility--where the company says it wants to hear what the public thinks about global warming and energy issues.

Well, if GM wants to hear from the public, let's tell them what we really think!

We've already posted pictures of the students' march in Detroit on the GM website.

I'd like your help in showing our support for the Michigan students as they press automakers to mass produce ultra-fuel-efficient cars and to stop mass-marketing environmental dreams.

You can show your support for the inspiring student climate activists by going to GM's greenwashing website, checking out the photos of the student auto show action that we've posted, giving the pictures a 5 star rating, and leaving a comment in support of the students and their message to automakers. It's easy.

We need to show GM that the public supports these brave students and that we want real change now! So check out the pictures and leave a comment showing your support!

Your support makes this important work possible.!

Thank you so much!
