Dick Day Video Contest: $1,000 PrizeAugust 9th (aka Dump Dick Day) was the 33rd anniversary of Richard Nixon's resignation in the face of impeachment. Of course, Tricky Dick was a rank amateur compared to Darth Cheney and The Decider. They've not just repeated his crimes-they've redefined the phrase "abuse of power."
We're holding a contest for the best video comparing Nixon and Cheney, and making the case for impeachment. The winner will be determined by a popular vote and will receive a $1,000 cash prize.
We received 17 qualifying entries through Youtube and invited our readers to rank them. These are the finalists which received at least 4.5 stars (ranked by number of ratings).

Youtube Your Rep. and Earn $100

As everyone knows, there are no good excuses for failing to impeach Cheney . Cheney lied repeatedly about Iraq's WMD's - and he's still lying today. He stood in front of 5 F-18's on an aircraft carrier in the Persian Gulf to threaten an illegal war of aggression against Iran. His Chief of Staff, Scooter Libby, committed perjury and obstruction of justice to avoid telling Special Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald that Cheney told him to expose Valerie Plame's identity - a major felony and arguably treason by Cheney. The Washington Post reported Cheney was the leading advocate for using torture - also a major felony and a war crime. And when it comes to any form of accountability, Cheney insists he's above the law.
Despite the absense of good excuses, Democrats in Congress continue to make excuses for refusing to impeach Dick Cheney. But it will be much harder for them to get away with their excuses if activists like you demand no-excuse answers while you record them on your video camera.
So we'll pay $100 for each "no excuse" video of your Representative explaining to you why (s)he has not co-sponsored H.Res. 333. To earn the fee you must video your Rep answering your questions, not video yourself asking them. Don't let your Representative give you bad excuses - prepare follow-up questions and demand serious answers.

Honk to Impeach: It Really Works!
Cheryl Biren-Wright wrote to share this: Rep. Robert Brady (D., Pa.) just signed onto H Res 333. I'd like to share an interesting tidbit - bob brady's district office is on s. broad street in philadelphia just on the other side of city hall from where we had our "honk for impeach" during rush hour on n. broad street yesterday. i can attest that the honking never ceased - it was one steady stream of noise - the people want it! An idea for others who plan rush hour impeach "honk fests," i had on hand pre-printed impeach postcards for people to sign and send to their reps. Most drivers were very eager to take them.
And from Kentucky comes this: Mark Twain is reported to have said that "when the end of the world comes I want to be in Kentucky, because there it will come 20 years later." If that is true George W. Bush should have been impeached several years ago. I have been taking photos and shooting videos of political protest here in Kentucky for several years and have never seen so many people honking for the impeachment of a sitting president. I suggest when Kentucky is ready to impeach George W. Bush and "Shotgun" Dick Cheney, the Bush Administration is in real trouble.

There are ongoing Honk to Impeach events in at least 18 locations around the country. We should have at least one in every state. Find one near you or start your own.
We suggest having impeachment petitions on hand for people to sign, wearing orange, and--if you can--handing out free impeachment bumper stickers.
